This 3-Week Watercolour Experience course offers a comprehensive introduction to watercolour techniques, ideal for those looking to develop their skills in a focused, expert-led setting. Over three weeks, participants will explore essential methods such as brush control, colour mixing, and layering to create vibrant, expressive paintings. Whether starting fresh or refining your approach, this course provides structured guidance to build confidence and achieve professional-quality results in your watercolour artwork.

What will I learn?

Over three weeks, you'll be introduced to key watercolour techniques including washes, layering, and brush control, with a focus on building confidence and fluency. You'll explore how to mix and apply colour, create texture, and develop observational skills through guided exercises and tutor-led demonstrations.
Our three-week acrylic painting programme begins as soon as the watercolour course ends, so if you'd like to continue exploring new materials and techniques, you're very welcome to join the next block. Each session includes group tuition, individual guidance, course notes, and all materials including paper and refreshments. For adults (over 18s) only.

Who is it for?

This 3-Week Watercolour Experience is ideal for anyone who wants to explore or deepen their skills with watercolour — from complete beginners looking for a clear, supportive introduction to the medium, to more experienced artists who want focused, expert-led guidance to refine their technique. It’s perfect if you’d like structured sessions that build confidence, strengthen your brush control and colour handling, and help you achieve more expressive, professional-looking results in your paintings.

What's provided?

All drawing materials, paper, handouts and refreshments are included. Students also receive a starter pack to take home, which consists of a sketchbook, a folder to store the class handouts, a range of pencils and a putty rubber.

What to bring?

Just yourself and a willingness to experiment! Sketchbooks are provided

About your tutors

"I graduated from Falmouth School of Art with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting, and I've spent over 26 years in mental health education as a Thrive Practitioner. I've also taught art at GCSE, A level and within FE colleges, which has strengthened my belief in how powerfully creativity supports wellbeing and self-expression. My own work is inspired by music, colour and the natural world, exploring rhythm and atmosphere through both observation and intuitive mark-making. Creativity, for me, is a way of connecting with others, and that belief shapes my teaching - supportive, expressive and grounded in helping people find resilience and balance."

“Art has been my whole life — which probably explains the paint on my shoes and the sketchbook in my shopping bag. Teaching is my way of passing on the passion. I don’t expect perfection, just a willingness to try and an openness to learning when things go sideways. My sessions are practical, relaxed, and occasionally interrupted by the sound of someone discovering that acrylic paint does, in fact, get everywhere. If you’re curious, you’re ready!”
